The Lydiate Boat now at the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum

This view of the forward section of the boat clearly illustrates a number of key construction features of the ice boats and to which it is linked in the main document. These include the Raked Keel, which is clearly shown in the picture, the relative size of the Keel and Keelson (by the size of the end plate) and the Vertical Planking.

The end plate also incorporates one of the many additional attachment points that were part of the construction (there is a ring lug at the bottom of the end plate which is just discernible - see image (7) for a better view of this feature).

The view is also used to illustrate one of the three locations of the remaining boats.
