city of Shibam with its 500 tower houses. They are made of mud and
are up to 7 storeys high. Most of the houses date from the 16th century.
Now the whole city is on UNESCO's list of world heritage. |
Opposite Shibam in the huge and hot Wadi Hadhramawt. In front
is the riverbed. Not much water at the moment, but sometimes there's actually
water floating here, that's what a "wadi" is. |
